We are recruiting for an Assistant Bridge Inspector following an increase in workload on our Essex highway maintenance contract. Reporting into the Senior Inspector, you would be responsible for undertaking a variety of highway structure inspections across the Essex highway network. The successful candidate will have previous experience completing bridge inspections and ideally hold a relevant degree to support their practical knowledge with health and training safety to support.
Location: Chelmsford, CM1 1GF (limited office attendance, site focused)
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE;
o Experience of completing structure inspections
o A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent practical experience
o Good understanding of inspection codes and standards
o Ability to assess risk and proposing mitigation measures when safety defects are identified
o Health and Safety training in the Bridges Sector
o Good IT Skills – (Work, Excel, BridgeStation)
o UK - Full Driving Licence (no more than 6 points)
YOU WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
o Undertaking General Inspection of highway structures
o Undertaking Principal Inspection of highway structures
o Accurate identification and reporting of defects
o Immediate reporting of safety defects
o Inputting defect information and photographs into the bridge inspection database (BridgeStation)
o Responding to customer enquiries and preparation of response to FOI
