The Role
• Assist the Project Management team with the delivery of structures task orders.
• Assist with the resource schedule and team workload.
• Assist in the control of project resource costings.
• Update project programmes.
• Assist the Project Management Team to ensure the relevant KPIs are met though monitoring and reporting.
• Maintain project documentation, filing, attend meetings and take notes as applicable
About You
• Ideally hold either Foundation APM or equivalent qualification, or reasonable experience in an Assistant role with an understanding of Project Management.
• A reasonable level of administration experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritise own work to support business priorities. Manages own performance and seeks feedback to improve where identified.
• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key people both internally and externally.

Reporting to Senior Agent or Capital Works Manager you will be responsible for delivering schemes from inception to completion as part of an annual programme of works within the construction team in the following work streams; Inlay Surfacing, Surface Treatments, Vehicle Restraint Systems (VRS), Local Highways Panel (LHP) Schemes, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Schemes, S106 Schemes, Surface Water Alleviation Schemes (SWAS) and Footway Schemes.
The Role
• Ensure all projects comply with health, safety and environmental legislation, RJ processes and policies, CDM requirements and quality management.
• Take responsibility for the delivery of several schemes utilising internal staff, shareholder resources, external consultants and contractors as required.
• Direct site supervision including the issue of permits to work and carry out site inductions when required.
• Line management responsibilities for Sub-Agents, Assistant Sub-Agents, Supervisors and Apprentices, providing clear and effective management of team members. Undertake personal development reviews, monitor performance and ensure staff are developed to help them reach their full potential.
• Deputise for Senior Agent as necessary.
About You
• HNC or equivalent levels essential.
• CSCS, NRSWA, and SMSTS card holder preferred.
• Membership of a professional body preferred.

The Role
• Manage the Cheshire East Highways tree inspection programme and support staff in line with the Cheshire East Highways Tree Risk Management Strategy
• Perform and accurately report tree Inspections and Service Inspections across the Cheshire East road network as set out in the Inspection Schedule.
• Perform walked and driven inspections working alone and alongside others.
• Receive enquiries and requests for service for a geographical area of the borough. Carry out inspections and investigations as required in order to determine the appropriate response or action required.
• Consider options and provide appropriate outcome for each enquiry in accordance with current policies, strategies, business plan and customer journey.
• Meet with customers on site to discuss highway maintenance or highway related matters. Conduct such meetings in a courteous manner and explain any technical issues clearly. Manage expectations but consider what action might be appropriate, balanced with policy and budget considerations.
About You
• RCF Level 6 Arboriculture (e.g. BSc. RFS Professional Diploma, LANTRA, Professional /Tree Inspection)
• QTRA registered.
• A full UK driving licence is essential.
• Excellent verbal and good written communication skills are essential.
• Good IT skills are essential, particularly MS Office and GIS systems desirable.

Reporting to the Traffic Signals team leader you will be responsible for the effective design and delivery of a portfolio of traffic signals projects.
The Team currently has a healthy pipeline of projects with individual value up to £5 million. These cover a range of programmes including capital works, S106 works, air quality, active travel, road safety and network management schemes.
You will be responsible for managing projects from feasibility through to delivery on site.
The Role
-Undertake feasibility and design work on a wide range of traffic signals schemes using existing best practice, guidance and within the current legislative framework.
-Evaluate engineering problems, apply technical expertise and engineering judgement and produce solutions to meet legal and management objectives.
-Identify, prepare, design, plan, programme and order works and services.
-Assist in the management and monitoring of works programmes or services to ensure that schemes are delivered on time and within budget.
-Liaising as required directly with Elected Members, Parish Councils, public and stakeholders
-Preparation of reports for projects and attend meetings as appropriate.
-Liaise with other team members associated with the design and supervision of allocated schemes
-Ensure the scheme design complies with the specification and agreed programme
-Maintain accurate records on allocated projects
-To provide professional and technical advice upon traffic signals enquiries
-Develop and mentor team members, providing guidance and technical support for their development.
About You
-Ability to produce 2D engineering designs using AutoCAD is essential.
-Ability to use MS packages – Word, Excel and Outlook are essential.
-A current driving licence is essential for this role.
-Experience of Traffic signals design including all associated legislation, standards and current best practice is desirable.
-Experience of managing projects cost and programme is desirable.
-Experience of traffic signals modelling using LinSig is desirable.
-HNC in Civil Engineering is desirable
-Membership of a relevant professional institution at Eng Tech level or actively working towards IEng level is desirable

The Role

About You
• Proven experience of inspection and/or supervision of construction of a wide range of highway schemes
• HNC, or eqivalent qualification, or experience in highways.
• Knowledge of a range of construction materials and construction methods relating to highway works gained through relevant experience within the industry
• Appropriate knowledge of Health and Safety legislation as it pertains to highway works and experience of applying control processes/measures to follow legislation knowledge and application of Health and Safety legislation

Essex Highways (EH) is responsible for managing and maintaining one of the largest highway networks in the country. EH is a delivery partnership between Essex County Council (ECC) and Ringway Jacobs. ?In this role you will work alongside our contractual partner to deliver highways services. Assist with the investigation and monitoring of streetworks, supporting and assisting with the co-ordination of a range of resources maximising opportunities to deliver our network management duty and safety for the travelling public.
The Role
• Contribute to delivery of the Network Management Duty
• To help in the operation of the Permit Scheme in accordance with Scheme Document and Section 3 of the Traffic Management Act.
• Assist the Senior Compliance Officer and other Senior Officers to ensure delivery of the Essex Highways and Essex Permit Scheme objectives, as defined in agreed service plans, in accordance with all council and Essex Highways standards and policies.
• To ensure & maintain data reliability across the business unit
• To prepare data and participate in informal and formal reviews/meetings of work promoter’s & internal performance.
• Review completed inspections for quality and training purposes to ensure compliancy against relevant legislation, guidance and best practice
• Provide detailed feedback to Senior Compliance Officer and other Senior Managers to target training needs
• Review and process incoming skips and scaffolding applications, ensuring all relevant paperwork and permissions are in place within the relevant SLAs
• Gather facts and figures, monitor self and others and achieve goals in a timely and factual manner.
• To ensure the discharge of the council duties under the relevant legislation ensuring parity with the council’s own works and utilities.
• Taking ownership of your own workload whilst assisting with the team’s workload as capacity allows.
• Assist with the use of systems and data for collating and reporting relevant performance and management information.
• Have a working knowledge of all Streetworks processes – Permits, TTRO’s, Minor Undertaker, S50, Finance, Failed Reinstatements, Samples, Section 74 and ensure correct implementation.
• Assist as part of the wider Streetworks function support continuous improvement of the Streetworks Team, demonstrated through innovations in service delivery, efficiencies and use of technology
• Support the Senior Compliance Officer to evaluate prospective impact on local network and any mitigation that will be taken to avoid disruption.
• To help the Senior Compliance Officer ensure that enquiries and complaints from members of the public, elected members, officers throughout the council and external agencies in relation to the service are responded to accurately and are within the required timescales.
• Responsible for assisting the Senior Compliance Officer in responding to questions and complaints from the public, stakeholders, and partners, to meet relevant targets and provide high performance standards.

Ringway Jacobs has an exciting opportunity for a supervisor to join the Construction Team in Cheshire.
To deliver an end-to-end highways capital programme to include carriageway and footway improvements, structure patching and surface treatment programmes, road marking replacements, vehicle restraint systems works and street furniture improvements.
The purpose of the role is to Supervise, plan, programme and organise delivery on site the Council’s highways improvement programme plus any other work streams that the Construction Team are commissioned to deliver to meet or exceed the required deliverables.
The Role
• Supervision of allocated works within the annual programme of works.
• Ensuring that projects are developed and delivered safely on time and to budget as per the Works Information.
• Ensure that all projects comply with Health and Safety Regulations and CDM requirements.
• Review of Supply Chain Partners Risk Assessments, Method Statements and COSHH for all allocated schemes.
• Carry out site inductions and issue permit to work, promoting RJ’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Procedures at all times.
About You
• Preference will be given to candidates holding some or all of the following qualifications: -
o NRSWA Supervisor, SSSTS, SMSTS, CSCS Supervisor, Temporary Works Supervisor, First Aid at Work.
• Experience working in the construction industry, preferably highways, preferred.
• Experience undertaking construction work in the vicinity of underground services preferred.
• Experience in the supervision or use of traffic management preferred.
• Current, Full Driving Licence.

Design Apprentice
Design Apprentice
Contract: Cheshire East Highways
Location: Crewe
Contract Type: Permanent
Cheshire East Highways (CEH) are looking for an enthusiastic Design Apprentice to join the Design Team.
The team currently has a healthy pipeline of projects with individual values up to £5 million. These cover a range of programmes including cycle improvements, junction improvements and public realm schemes.
Joining us as an apprentice, you will gain practical experience in the design and delivery of highway projects whilst also working towards a formal qualification in Civil Engineering.
Beyond your apprenticeship we can support you with obtaining professional qualifications (Incorporated Engineer IEng and Chartered Engineer CEng), and our past apprentices have successfully progressed to senior positions within the organisation.
The Role
• Assist with the preparation, planning, design and programming of highway projects.
• Assist with the development of highway designs using Computer Aided Design (CAD) based software.
• Produce project work packages including items such as Pre-construction information.
• Maintain accurate records on allocated projects.
• Assist with correspondence relating to work areas, providing timely and accurate responses.
About You
• 3 A Levels at / predicted grade ‘C’ or above including Maths or an equivalent level 3 qualification.
• Experience of using Microsoft systems (Word, Excel and Outlook)
Desirable
• Experience with engineering design software such as CAD or other similar 3D software
• Hold a current driving licence
• Be passionate about pursuing a career within Civil Engineering,
